The program marking the official inaugural ceremony and launching of the Grand Gedeh University Students Association Fund raising University of Liberia has taken place today with a call for students to focus on developing the county and the nation at large.
The inaugural and lunching of the association took place at the conference room of the Zwedru city hall bringing together secondary students, politicians, government officials and as well as well meaning citizens of the county.
Serving as Guest speaker of the one day occasion, the head of LIGIS Alphanso Gbaye who proxy in behalf of the Grand Gedeh superintendent Peter Solo said students in Liberia should focus on education in order to bring a better change to the nation.
He said in order for a nation to obtain a good development, we should firstly invest in education.
He also said Liberia need a train and professional teachers who will help build and strengthen the educational system of the nation and is urging the ministry of education to see reasons of providing higher trainings for teachers in Liberia.
He lamented that University students of Grand Gedeh County should focus their studies in the agricultural sector in order to help reawaken the agricultural activities within the county which has over the years been abandon.
For his part, the inaugural president Festus Tiah extended gratitude’s to the superintendent and all those who help making the program a success and encourage them to always seek the interest of students in the county and elsewhere.
He said his government is going to work tirelessly to seek the interest of the Grand Gedeh students at the University of Liberia and mentioned that his government will be an inclusive government and not to allow segregation among students with in the association.
