
Ghana’s Defence and Environment Ministers, along with six other officials and crew members, have died in a military helicopter crash.
The crash occurred on Wednesday in Ghana’s southern Ashanti region.
President John Mahama’s chief of staff, Julius Debrah, confirmed the deaths of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed in a press conference. Debrah called the incident a “national tragedy.”
Three other government officials and three air force crew members were also killed in the crash.
Further details regarding the cause of the crash have not yet been released.
